Treating with the Outsiders/Outgarthr
Outsiders, you who dwell beyond our stead,
who look with malice and with spite
upon the work we do.
You walk ways shunned by us,
and yet we call you kin
to selfishness and thoughtlessness
and all those parts of man
that are less noble and are small
and keep us in the dark.
To you we make this offering
and at the same time set aside
our thoughtlessness and our distractions
for the duration of this rite.
Outsiders, accept this offering and trouble not our work!
Outgarthr during Yule
A cut of meat is taken outside the immediate ritual space.
"You who dwell beyond the light of our fires, you who revel in chaos, we call on you to turn away from our hearth.
We are not of your pack this night and will not suffer your howls of strife.
Take this token, freely given, and do not seek for more.
Wolves of winter, do not disturb our work."

From Lughnassadh
"Fomorii, you whose work is not our own, you who stood against our Gods, we address you.
What we do today does not concern you; accept this gift, freely given, and trouble us not!"
What we do today does not concern you; accept this gift, freely given, and trouble us not!"
From the ADF Standard Liturgy
Ancient dark ones, we make this offering to you.
You who dwell in the outer dark
You who stood against the gods
You twisted and misshapen
You cold of heart and dim of mind
Take this offering and trouble not our working.
Likewise we acknowledge in ourselves
Weakness and perversity
Hatred and spite
Cowardice and ignorance
We contemplate these ills and enemies
And for this sacred time
We set them aside!
